Enrollment Process
Step 1: Schedule a Phone Intake Assessment
We’d love to tell you more about Meristem. To find out more about our program and about enrollment, please contact our Admissions Department at (916) 963-1000 or via email at info@meristem.pro.
Step 2: Complete Our Application
When you are ready to apply, a link to our online application will be sent via email from our Admissions Department.
Before you begin the application process, it is helpful to have any additional documents ready for upload. These may include any of the following, or other documentation or testing that would help us get to know the applicant’s background and goals. These are not required, but are helpful to our team.
- Individualized Education Program (IEP)
- Neuropsychological Evaluation
- Psychoeducational Evaluation
- Progress Report from previous program
Step 3: Visit Our Campus
After the intake call with the admissions team, it will be determined if taking a tour is the right next step. Tours allow for getting to know us and experience Meristem firsthand on a campus tour. Tours typically occur Monday-Friday between the hours of 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, and take approximately 90 minutes. We also can arrange a virtual meeting and/or a virtual tour.
Step 4: Pre-Enrollment Visit
Once the application has been reviewed, and it appears that the Meristem program may be a good fit for the applicant, a PEV (pre-enrollment visit) may be scheduled for a 3-day/2-night PEV. During a PEV, the applicant will participate in a schedule of classes. If interested in the “Independent Living Skills” program, the applicant will spend the night on campus in a single-occupancy dorm room. The visit gives the Meristem staff a chance to get to know the young adult and learn if the program can support his/her needs for successful growth towards a life of independence. Participation in a PEV does not guarantee an offer of enrollment.
If you are a California resident, you may be a, or qualify to become a, client of a Regional Center in your county. Please contact your regional center service coordinator to find out about the ‘Purchase of Services’ process for regional center clients.
Step 5: Enrollment Offer
After the Pre-Enrollment Visit (PEV) has been completed, our staff and the prospective student will share feedback and reflect on the PEV experience. If the Meristem PEV review team determines that the student can be successful in the program, an offer of enrollment will be offered immediately following this review. If not, the review team will offer suggestions for next steps that the applicant can work on in order to be considered for an enrollment offer. After the offer of enrollment and based on availability, the perspective student may be able to begin attending Meristem classes.
